gee i just cant seem to make up my mind. i have so many choices for making a little quilt that i am feeling overloaded.by the way, doesnt it look like my birdie is looking at my outlandish nail color???
i feel very special. i received this in a swap from the lovely laurie. isnt he the sweetest?!!! and those bits of fabric are so scrummy. i must say i was a terrible person and didnt post these when i got them, i have had them for a bit but was just too lazy to upload the pix onto the puter. i did take the pix right away tho! so do i get points for that? nah? i didnt think so.
i still cannot figure out how to add a button to my blog. if anyone out there has a typepad acct and can help me out, i would really appreciate it.
another pic of something i got recently, but hadnt uploaded. i got the canister set on ebay. isnt it gorgeous?
after i finished my first quilt for the doll swap i wanted to make more! this is my third one. the pic is of the back.
i used embroidery floss to do the quilting on it. i really like hand quilting and dont know if i will do machine quilting on any of the little ones. it goes relatively quickly, so i think for now i will be doing it by hand.
this quilt was made for someone. i had hinted about it a little while ago, but she hadnt gotten it yet so i didnt want to spoil the surprise. i was pleased with how it turned out, i just cut some strips and played with how i would arrange them and this pattern just emerged. looking back i should have included a border, but i didnt think of it at the time. this is rather small at about 12" square.
i did a swirly pattern with the quilting stitches.
can you tell i love turquoise? two little lovelies i found on ebay. it was the strangest thing. they had my name on them! can you believe it? so of course i couldnt NOT buy them. i dont plan on using them so much, i just love the burst of color on the stove. oh and that striking bowl in the center?? daughter made that in pottery class a few years back. i just love the colors and shape. ok i have to say dont look at this photo too closely at my messy stove, ok? do we have an understanding??? good. oh and i forgot to mention there is also a leaf in the bowl that daughter made in one of her pottery classes too. i use it as a spoon rest.
this is so exciting! doll quilt swap II is under way!! the swappers will be getting their partners in the next few days. i just got my batch of partners out in the last few hours, so those lucky dogs can get started on their quilts. i have been looking thru my books and things for inspiration. i havent settled on a pattern yet for the quilt i will be making. i think i will wait until i get my partners name. so while i sit here eating last nites chinese (went out with my girlfriend, then to a beading nite!) and thinking of all kinds of interesting patterns and i cant wait to get started. since the first doll quilt swap i have made two more little quilts and i must say they are addicting. whats nice is they go so quickly. i am going to take a break from the puter as it is still really warm here, so i am off to go sit in front of a fan and peruse quilting books!
whoops! i forgot to mention that i am a swap mama for doll quilt swap II! lisa had so many people sign up it would have been way too much work for any one person!!
yikes it was hot here today! thank goodness it will cool down tonight. nothing too exciting going on around here. i am finishing up a little quilt, but thats all i can say as it is a secret, shhhhhhhhhh. more on that later. this weekend is the bead and button bead show. if you are into beading, and live anywhere near here it is worth the trip! i am not going this year, as i am not as into beading lately and i know if i go i will spend waaaaaaaaaay too much money. its so hard not to. i mean who doesnt like beads???
i have signed up for the second round of the doll quilt swap, but i am too stupid to figure out how to put a button on my blog...oh wellllll. i am so impatient to get my partner so i can start! there is already over 60 folks signed up. lisa, angela, and wendy are going to have their hands full with this one! it seems everywhere you turn, there is talk of doll quilts.
i have just gotten tagged by the adorable gabrielle. it's about your childs name.Give the meaning of your kids’ names, and write about what or how or why you gave the name to your kids. Tag five people to play along and leave a comment at their blog to let them know they have been tagged.
unfortunately my daughter is almost 14 and forbids me from posting photos of her here, and all my old pix of her are on the other puter and my new laptop doesnt "read" them. :(

oh no, i had to laugh at the traits!!! my darling is always
worrying that people think she is a bit um...scattered!
hehe i have to giggle.as far as naming her goes, i was
dead certain that she was a boy, and we were going
to name her after the hubby, george. so around 7
months pregnant i stopped looking for names. when we
were in hospital and she came out and they said she
was a girl, i was shocked to say the least. well we fumbled
with trying to come up with a name and couldnt remember
really any that we had liked(well none that we could
agree on) and we felt like we had to name her before
we left. so the only one i could remember was....chloe.
i do like the name, and it does suit her, she just seems
