i did end up going to the fabric store, shoofly quilts. its my local store and i just adore spending time there. isnt it fun being surrounded by that much fabric?? i just bought a few fat quarters, a stencil, and some hexagon papers
nothing super exciting, but i really love the plain fabrics on the left. its hard to tell here but they are two shades of purply gray and a pink. i want to use them together but i dont know on what just yet. the other three are extra 30's fabrics for the stash. i have always admired sashiko and couldnt pass up this stencil to try my hand at it. i need to find some gorgeous indigo fabric tho.
all this fabric store talk is because doll quilt swap 3 is under way!!! yahoo!!! partners have already been given out and i just got info on my partners likes and dislikes so i am going to be perusing my quilt mags and books in the next few days trying to get inspired as to what i will make....check back here for updates!!!as long as i am on the topic, could anyone out there in blog land that uses typepad help me to put in a button in my sidebar? i cant for the life of me figure it out!!!
this is my white/cream button jar. it is a biggy, at about 10" or so. i just seem to acquire so many white buttons that i figured a big jar was in order!! i cant seem to get enough buttons. in the last few months i have even grown up a bit and have started to use them in projects, not just hoard them like i would like to!!
i separated my colored buttons into three jars:
pinks, reds, and purples
greens, blues, and yellows
browns, blacks, and grays
i put my floss on big rings and have them separated by color the same way as the buttons. them plop them in the little drawers. those two little dolls keep watch so the little people dont steal anything during the nite.
