can i just tell you how much i love tone finnagers books??? a LOT! and i am so excited to find out she is releasing another american title soon...just how soon i dont know. if anyone out there knows, can you please leave a comment??? thanks
i know i have been pretty bad about posting about my dqs6 progress, but the blocks i had started on, i just couldnt bring myself to finish. i just wasnt feeling it, you know? so i got inspired and this is the result. i will be quilting and binding it tomorrow for our may 1st send off. i probably wont post a pic of the finished quilt until its received. i so hope my partner likes it. she tends to like bright fabrics so i hope this is bright enough for her. i am binding in the turquoisy blue scissors
i embrace my weirdness. i am ok with it. that said, i was in the bathroom yesterday at the mall and after pulling my drawers down noticed i had no toilet paper. i looked at each of the stalls to find no one in temporary residence. BUT! i noticed the stall to my right had the tp dangling, so i was able to snatch it and well, you know.... which brings me to the reason for this post. if you are in a stall and have already done your business before noticing there is no toilet paper, what do you do?? i have come to the realization that i am a roll user (thats right, you guessed it, i use the empty roll). come on now, gimme your wacky stories, or just what you do in this situation, because i want to know.
we have finally gotten some nice spring-like weather around here, thank goodness! i think with the nicer temps and me painting my piggies some lovely colors that i am feeling much more happy lately. thanks for all your sweet comments.
today was an exciting day, i got to meet a quilt book author that i didnt even know was local, kathleen tracy. she has written three wonderful books(you can see the titles on her website). they arent your typical quilt book because they tell a story and also have some lovely quilts/patterns. the one i am most familiar with is prairie children and their quilts. its a great story and would be a great supplement for any of you homeschoolers out there that are doing a little house or laura ingalls wilder unit study.
kathleen is holding her latest book that just hit the bookstores in march. this book is such a lovely story of a woman that lived in our area. some really fabulous quilts are included in this book, including one of my faves, orange peel (featured on the cover). she is standing in front of another of her quilts, also from this latest book (i believe!)
thats judy getting a book signed by kathleen (she works at quilt play too) the funny thing with all this? kathleen knew me! we were talking about the internet, blogging and flickr and my name(chickenfoot) came up. its so fun to see how small the world really is....ok, please dont notice how truly fat i am getting, k? but i had to include a pic of kathleen and me. it was great meeting you kathleen, and hurry up and get a blog!
i finally was able to go to the antique mall last week. this is what i brought home with me. the face on that cookie cutter makes me smile. a little mischievious, no? i can never turn down buttons, and these were priced cheaply.
boy i really have been crappy about posting the last few months. i just havent had it in me. my usual winter depression was so late this year, i thought i was going to avoid it altogether, but no such luck. i am trying desperately to stay upbeat, but am losing badly.
what do you do to make yourself happy? even spending money doesnt make me happy lately....and that usually is a no brainer. i just feel like i dont need to buy anything because i dont have any place to put anything. i suck at decorating. geez i should go before i depress everyone.
