i have been toying with a couple of ideas for dqs6. this is one idea. there will be three stars in the first row, then two in the next row and again three in the bottom row. my thoughts are to put another block in between each yellow/orange/red star. i am unsure what that other block will be. i think i want to do it in shades of blue/green/purple on black, but i havent found one i like yet. the other idea i have is for a paper pieced quilt, but i am going to see how this one goes (or doesnt) first. i havent measured these blocks yet, but i started with 2" squares
any thoughts on the other block i could include? i want something nontradional....and possibly wonky
i am reading the last chinese chef right now. i am really getting into the characters, and i am pretty sure i will be looking for her other books. did you see the movie lost in translation, with bill murray? gotta love it. it was based on her book what are you reading?

oops, before i forget, scoot on over to kristens blog for a lovely liberty giveaway. she is trying to sell off some of her yarn stash to buy fabric.
we have gotten some really pretty fabrics in the shop(quilt play) in the last few weeks and have been having so much fun making samples and playing with the fabrics. i really want to make something with that hot flash! it is such fun fabrics. the fourth bolt from the left we have lovingly nicknamed petrie dish. the only problem with getting in so many new lines, is where to put them all! we have been arranging and rearranging weekly. we still have about 40 bolts of batiks due anytime (ack!) and a few more lines of other fabrics....i really dont know where we will put it all. oh, back to the hot flash, if anyone has any great quilt pattern ideas for that line, i would love to hear them. we also are having a truckshow this month in the shop with quilts and patterns from blue underground. are you familar with their patterns? oh geez, their stuff is very modern and so so gorgeous. i am making a posh tot for my daughter out of aquas. i will be finished piecing it tomorrow, so i will try to be good and post a pic of it
the quilt in the middle is one of theirs. [the quilt on the left is take five and the one on the right is snap shot (happy hour quilts) ] can you find the egg block in there?
ok i suck at picking just one of anything, so i decided to go with four winners. heres the 9 pincushions i made. please choose your top three and hopefully everyone will be happy. just for sheer volume of embarrassing situations, tanaya is our winner!! second place goes to jacquie, because i would have died if that had happened to me. bringing in third and fourth place are beth and tia!! thanks for playing ladies and for everyone having such a great sense of humor.
i was messing about tonight and i think i have a new banner for my blog, but i am not sure how to put it up. anyone out there that has typepad that can help me out?
i am working on getting 6 pincushions finished (hopefully tomorrow) then i will put them up for the three winners to choose from.
i had a good chuckle from your most embarrassing happenings and appreciate you sharing them. should i tell you mine?? well ok, but i warn you now, if you are squeemish, leave now. this is not only embarrassing but gross!
a few years ago my husband, daughter and i drove about 45 minutes to one of my favorite spots to eat, sweet tomatoes (a soup and salad bar). while standing in the long line, i started to realize that i should scoot to the ladies room, as i had my period and it seemed i was leaking thru my tampon. so off i ran. well i didnt make it, and noticed that i had "spilled" when sitting down. i happened to be wearing overalls(i told you this was a few years ago!!), so took off my sweat jacket and wrapped it around my waist...problem solved, no? NO. so i go back to stand in line with my family, only to have a couple behind us laughing and looking at me. very rudely. after we had gotten farther down the line my hubby stepped around me to get ahead of me ( i apparently am too slow of a salad bar salad maker). shortly after, he tells me "you have blood on your back". i said what do you mean??? he said on your back toward the top!!! ack! so i put my hand back there and when i pull it back i have a quails egg sized blood clot in my hand!!! talk about beyond gross!!
long story way too late to be short... i now had on my sweat jacket around my waist and my hubbys lovely (insert sarcasm here) flannel shirt on. why didnt we go home at this point?? well like i said we drove 45 minutes and it was my favorite restaurant. needless to say, i didnt return there for about a year.
this is some of the latest fabric lines we have gotten in at work, quilt play. i wanted for so long for the robot fabric to come in. i already made two quilt tops of the caterpillar line for two of my nephews, but my niece had a baby recently, so i have been itching to get my hands on the fabric. the japanese line is so so so yummy. and i was so pleasantly surprised its not canvas. i have plans to make some totes out of some of these prints with a linen blend.....pretty, no?
my slippers are so soft and fuzzy, and the color is so me. she must know how much i love teas, because she included a nice selection of them. i think my favorite thing is the bag with an angel on it. do you see it up there at the top?? i cant decide what to do with it, i dont want to put it away for the holidays...... thanks again,
since i have been so horrible about posting, i thought i would quick like a bunny show you some of the projects i had to finish for the holidays....which is why i didnt have time to post. thats my story and im sticking to it!!
